Here are some ways you can service your air conditioner yourself. Please consult your manufacturer’s manual before attempting to service your AC. If you do not feel comfortable doing this work yourself or are experiencing a major issue then please do not hesitate to give us a call and we will be happy to help
Filter - this should be cleaned or changed every month during the hot season when your AC is in use. You can remove the front grille of your air conditioner and clean the filter with a mild detergent solution and then dry and reinstall it. If your filter is disposable then simply replace it
Coils - you can also clean evaporator and condenser coils with a mild detergent solution. Turn the power switch off and remove the cover of your AC unit and vacuum away any dust and debris before cleaning coils. You can also purchase a fin comb to straighten bent fins on coils
Switch - if you are experiencing power issues with your AC such as no power or intermittent power then the problem may be the selector switch. This is located directly behind the control panel which you can remove to replace the switch if it appears damaged
Drain Ports - water vapor and moisture that accumulates when you use your air conditioner are funneled away through drain ports. These drain ports can become clogged with dirt and so it is a good idea to clean them every month using a wire hanger or a similar tool
Fans - if your fan is noisy or does not work then it may be possible to fix the problem by cleaning and tightening your fan. You can vacuum and wipe away dirt with a soft cloth as well as make sure the screw on the blades and the shaft itself are tight
